Publicity

Media Coverage

  • Similar to last year, local Liaison Officers will be responsible for co-ordinating the relevant media coverage for their local participants. The media should be advised of the judges’ visit, their itinerary and the efforts of the local community group(s). PR helps to promote the competition and, more importantly, recognises the achievements of the entrants.
    • It is advantageous for the groups if there is evidence of ongoing media awareness and local support of the entrants’ activities throughout the course of the entire competition. This is certainly something the judges will consider.
  • If assistance is required in preparing press releases or obtaining background information to the competition, please contact the Co-operation Ireland Pride of Place Co-ordinators.

Images on the Day

Each year, PR material is produced which captures images of the participants from all over the island. It is vital therefore that all participating counties are represented and that we get high quality photographs of the entrants during the judging visit.

This year each judging team will be given a digital camera to take up to ten action shots in each location.

The images we are looking for should as far as possible depict the groups in their natural activities i.e. not posed shots – we are trying to avoid formal images.

  • Action shots are ideal i.e. depicting people playing sport, planting a tree, involved in a meeting, shaking hands etc. Please assist the judges in identifying suitable landmark buildings, attractions and persons for the photo opportunities.
  • Verbal permission is required from those being photographed for use of the images on Co-operation Ireland publicity material.
  • To facilitate any captioning later please provide a list of people and titles (where necessary) and the location.
  • If there are existing photographs, which you wish to be included, please forward (suitably captioned) with the material to be returned to Co-operation Ireland’s offices – see guidelines.
